The Key to a Winning Interview
The key to a winning interview is telling a story, specifically, your memorable story.
So many of my clients report having an easy time being selected to be interviewed for a new job or role.
They then report how nervous they get about the interview itself.
Fun fact: Once a prospective employer has called you it means that your resume has passed muster.
Next, they want to speak to you to see if:
1. You are who you say you are on your resume.
2. You are someone they would like working with.
So, in service that, your goal is to tell your story and, in the process, let them know that you are likable, interesting and worth having on their team.
Remember to include in your story how and why this new position is the next step in your career and how you can be an asset to the organization. And tell them something memorable about yourself and how your values align with the mission of the company.
You can practice for an interview by answering the following: Tell me something about yourself that isn’t on your resume.
If you’d like some guidance or help with practicing the answer to that prompt, feel free to DM me or reach out via email at gail@gailcummings.com. I’d love to help you with interview prep!
