The Art of Networking
What’s Art Got to do With It?
At the heart of networking and building your professional life is creating and sustaining relationships.
Research shows that people do business with people they trust and respect.
Trust comes first, though, and is established by getting to know someone and genuinely liking them. Respect, or the belief that you have the expertise and judgment to do a great job for them, comes second.
What was so notable about this event is that no one really talked business – we all talked art and discovered what each other perceived about paintings that we may not have noticed.
We got to know each other as people rather than as professionals and left feeling that we knew and liked each other even more.
Moral of the Story: Go to networking events with the goal of having fun, meeting people, getting them to know and like you and leave the business pitch out of it.
Thank to our sponsors, Sue Pellegrino, President of Everest Discovery LLC and Jennifer Ward, Managing Partner of Ward Law, LLC who treated for drinks and appetizers after the tour. Looking forward to the next networking event! Megan Becwar Jennifer Gardella, PhD
